Lyons Farm Elementary
Lyon’s Farm is now a 5-star center!
After receiving their temporary license at the start of the school year, Lyons Farm Elementary received its 5-star license at the end of March.
Thanks to the dedication and persistence of the teachers, Shavonne Hunter and Miracle Jackson, they also received a 6.37 out of a possible score of 7 on their Environmental Rating Scale assessment!
Ms. Hunter and Ms. Jackson are pictured below with Technical Assistants from Child Care Services Association at the beginning of the year as they were setting up the room. They have come a long way this school year. Congratulations on their hard work!
Spring Family Engagement Activities
Both Randy's Five Star Academy, Inc. and Growing Legacy programs hosted Spring Family Engagement events!
- At Randy's Five Star Academy, Mrs. Timmons and Ms. Lavana's students and families focused on getting their garden ready to plant seeds. Their first step involved everyone working together to pull the weeds out of the garden beds. The following week they added the soil and at a later date they will start planting different kinds of seeds.
- At Growing Legacy, Ms. Becca's and Ms. EK's students and families planted different vegetables in their garden. The program collaborated with Ileana Vink from DINE who was also able to join and the program received free seeds and materials for their "Garden Spruce Up Day"! They planted lettuce, radishes, kale, sweet peas, and carrots (pictured below). As an added bonus, garden plant kits were sent home with each student.
