Week of the Young Child: Work Together Wednesday

April 15, 2020

Happy Work Together Wednesday!

Work Together Wednesday is all about building and exploring together to discover early math and science concepts and develop early literacy and social skills. Here are some ideas you can share with you families, or come up with your own!

  • Build a fort with all the pillows and blankets you can find, and talk about why the softer pillows may be better for the floor while the firmer pillows are better for the walls.
  • You can each build the same object (for example, a house) and compare how they're similar or different when you're done.
  • If you want to build outside, you can use branches, sticks and rocks, or take a cardboard box outside and turn it into a spaceship!
  • If you don't have block to build with, you can use cereal boxes, books, shoe boxes, cans or a combination!

If you share pictures with your students and families or if they share pictures with you, we encourage you to also share them with us (with the family's permission) or to post them yourself (with the family's permission) and tag @durhamprek and @naeyc and to hashtag #woyc20!
