The Durham PreK Teacher of the Week is Mrs. Pebbles Lucas from First Chronicles Day Car Center!

Mrs. Pebbles Lucas studied early childhood education at Durham Technical Community College, North Carolina Central University and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and now holds a Masters or Education Leadership, Advocacy ant Policy.

She became a teacher because she loves helping children, and she wanted to be part of a dynamic team of leaders who are dedicated to shaping the quality of education for all students. She always said, “When I grow up, I am going to help children make it across the bridge so they can be successful.” Today, she is proud to say she has “the opportunity to help children from all backgrounds, races and cultures.”

Durham PreK has made a “tremendous impact” for her and her classroom. Our Technical Assistance Specialists have helped her see development through the CLASS framework focusing on teacher-student interaction.
