Week of the Young Child: Family Friday

April 15, 2020

Happy Family Friday!

Today is all about celebrating families' role in their children's learning and development. Learning begins at birth, making families children's first and most important teachers. We as early childhood educators and supporters of the field applaud the hard work, nurturing and engagement of our Durham PreK families. Here are some ideas for families to celebrate their roles in early childhood education:

  • Take time to do you favorite things as a family. like watching your favorite movie, making your favorite treat or playing your favorite game.
  • Make a book about your family - include as many people as your child wants, write about why you love each person, a favorite memory of each person, or why they're special to you.

If you share pictures with your students and families or if they share pictures with you, we encourage you to also share them with us (with the family's permission) or to post them yourself (with the family's permission) and tag @durhamprek and @naeyc and to hashtag #woyc20!
