First Chronicles Day Care

"First Chronicles is a 5 star child care center that provides high quality child care with the sole purpose of giving children a high quality education. The center started as a vision from our pastor to provide high quality child care for families in the community. Therefore, in 2007 we purchased a home in our community and renovated it into a child development center. Since our humble beginnings as a NCGS 110, we have been truly blessed to become a 5-star NC Pre-K and Durham PreK site."

A Message from Lead Teacher Pebbles Lucas:

Greeting Families in the Durham Community,

We are excited about the upcoming 2022 to 2023 school year. We are a five-star center, equipped with mastery level educators and various learning resources that will enhance the individual students' unique learning experience through exploration of creativity and curriculum. Our curriculum is focused on building foundational knowledge along with age-appropriate goals in the areas of physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development. We are excited for the opportunity to love, care for, and educate your children in our safe learning environment. We work consistently to make learning fun and interesting so that our students are excited about coming to school each day. Our first week of school was phenomenal. Our children have been introduced to various basic skills and technology that will continue to build their experiences toward kindergarten success. I hope you will consider joining a great them of educators who are equipped to provide high quality education through the Durham PreK program. We are excited about meeting you! Have a great year.

The Durham PreK team interviewed Mrs. Lucas for the Why Pre-K video in 2021. She and other Durham PreK teachers talk about the importance of play-based learning in early childhood development.
